Beat the "I'm bored" blues with a nature scavenger hunt that you and your children can enjoy together.

A nature scavenger hunt is a fun way to get your child or group excited to explore the outdoors. So, whether you are looking for a classroom activity, a group idea, outdoor games for kids, or a birthday party idea, a scavenger hunt is sure to be a hit! It gives them a sense of accomplishment and also encourages friendly competition and teamwork.

Make sure to decide ahead of time if you want your child or students to bring back what they find or leave it in its place and draw it in their notebook.

When making up a scavenger hunt, keeping the kids’ interest should be high priority. Have them search for common outdoor objects that won’t be difficult or frustrating to find. Of course, safety and supervision are of utmost importance as well.

Reminder: Please be sure to ask your child to be respectful of the natural environment as they go out seeking and searching. An outdoor scavenger hunt is one of many outdoor games that get kids outside and learning, but participants should be watchful of their footsteps!

You can use the scavenger hunts under the “Activities” page or you can make up your own. Make a list of items that are age appropriate and also most likely be found in your area. Be creative. This activity is a lot of fun for everyone.
