Trick or Treat with Smarts!

October 2008

I am going to a house party for Halloween this year.  We will bob for apples in a barrel full of water and have a beanbag toss contest.
If you are going door to door trick-or-treating this year, I want to share some safety tips with you.

  1. Choose an area that you know and houses of people that you know.  Make sure mom or dad come with you.
  2. Wear retro-reflective material on your costume and make sure that your costume does not make you trip.
  3. Trick-or-treat down one side of the street before crossing.  Do not zigzag back and forth across the street.
  4. Be cautious with animals and do not approach them.
  5. Wait until you are home to eat a treat.  Let mom or dad inspect the treats first.

Your memories of Halloween will be safe and sweet.
